I bought a set, seen in the picture linked below, that I used when I towed 
my 51 Imperial from Texas to Winnipeg in June.

I got them for $15 at Princess Auto.  http://www.princessauto.com  They 
worked great and didn't harm the freshly painted surface of my 77 NYB.

Besides, nothing says 70's like a set of "Grampa's" towing mirrors!

In going through Doc's place, I came across a pile of
vintage towing mirrors.  the kind that strap onto the
car and hang out wide.  Probably still available, but
not as easy to find?  Looks like they were plenty
popular back then.

Imperial's stock side mirrors can be improved upon, I
should think.
