IML: Bumper Jack Stowage in Trunk - 59 Imperial

The restoration of my '59 Imperial is nearing completion and I'm trying to figure out how the bumper jack stores in the trunk. The two brackets are in place, but the owner's manual states - " To remove, move the control trigger down and release tension on holding spring by operating the jack." (It doesn't explain in detail how to re-stow it.) The picture in the manual is not real clear since the spare tire partly obstructs the view of the stored jack, but it looks like there might be something coming up from the trunk floor that attaches to the jack.

My question: Is the tension holding spring part of the bumper jack or is it a separate piece that also attaches to the trunk (floor)?
Can anybody with a '59 tell me how to store the bumper jack (and perhaps send me a photo)?

Thanks,
Charlie Hansen
