In the middle 1970's, I ran my '65 Imperial with Wide Whites that were take offs from my '56. The car is Sierra Sand without a vinyl top, so the tires really dressed it up. I liked it, but most people commented that it looked peculiar, although they usually couldn't put their finger on why. I am currently in a similar situation with my daily driver (white '80 Linc.T.C. coupe). The correct white walls were not available when it needed tires the last time. I opted for a wider white wall, rather than a thinner one. The car gets a lot of attention, but some of the old comments that I got on the '65 seem to have been forgotten by the public. The one I hated the most was "Where did you get the Toilet Seat white wall tires???". I guess these days toilet seats are so often not white that the connection has been lost. Paul W.
