RE: IML: '60 windshield weatherstrip

I can get one if needed.

This would be the rubber gasket that holds the glass
into the metal frame. There are no people
manufacturing these as far as I know - they are a
one-piece molded rubber item.

The good news is that they are somewhat easy to find
on parts cars and are usually still good after being
under the stainless trim their whole lives.

I have found that soaking rubber items in vinegar
softens them up considerably, and this could be worth
doing prior to installing yours. Clean well or get
hassled by passengers about the smell.

They have a seal-ring that you pry open with a butter
knife and push back in with the heel of your hand or a
rubber mallet (CAREFUL!!).

Prior to attempting to install a windscreen, you
should understand how the gasket works or you will
ruin it or the glass or both. Not difficult, but not
obvious if you don't know what you are looking at.

Write to me at imperialist1960@xxxxxxxxx if needed.

The folks that have cars such as Lowell and Bob H will
also have such things.
