This is the same on most cars.  Work your hand up in behind the dashboard to the switch.  Somewhere on the switch, on the sides, you’ll find a button.  Push the button down while you pull out the knob.  The whole knob and shaft will come right out in your hand.

I want to remove and replace my headlight switch on my '60 Crown.  There is no set screw in the knob.  How do I get it off to pull the switch?  Manual says nothing about it that I can find.
