Re: IML: Auto Storage

In my experience it is good to have air circulate around a car. Further, start it at least once per month and move it, running it through the gears to keep all seals lubricated. I also have a great cat, Carter, who ensures there are no rodents.

Hello all, I had a conversation today with a doctor
who had a 1966 Mustang fully restored about ten years
ago and then had it wrapped in plastic and put into a
garage on his property. The long and the short of it
was that rats and bugs got into the car and ruined it.
The plastic also did a nice job of retaining moisture
and screwing up the paint job in spots. I have stored
cars over the years and have found that moth balls put
into the interior and under the hood as well as in the
trunk have done a nice job of keeping the critters
(including snakes)out of the car and they also seem to
have inhibited the formation of mildew. Just a
thought.
