Ken, Always take a look at the website first. You'll find these topics discussed in detail, usually with pictures, and you can learn about these to your heart's content. The seat didn't spin, it swiveled to either of two positions: facing foreward or facing rearward. The door must be open for it to swivel (to corners of the seat cushion would hit the door), so the swiveling cannot be done with the car in motion. Because the B-pillar in the 4-door hardtop would also get in the way, it was only available in the Crown Coupe, which has longer doors. Don't know why they chose not to offer it in the Crown Convertible, but presumably it's because they felt no one would use such a feature in an open car (even though a convertible can be driven top-up... product planners are not often that broad-minded in their thinking). Obviously the candlelit dinner (actually, it's coffee and petitfours for dessert, if I recall correctly) is a romanticization perfect for the advertising style of the day. It's one of my favorite ad photos ever for that reason: It captures the spirit of the product rather than being a practical and literal depiction. As for a driver, they are obviously parked in some secluded, out of the way place. Mother and kids in a Mobile Director Crown Coupe... funny. This car was for a captain of industry. The kids would have been in the third row of mother's Town and Country wagon, while mother enjoyed the AM radio and large ashtray up front.
