move spool valve to port oil for assist) in the spool valve. The original
fell out when I pulled the spool valve off the steering box.The one from the
junkyard was a tight fit in it's spool valve. I had to pull hard to separate
that one.These arms are balled at each end with a cut through the middle of
the ball end which allows it to compress enough to fit into the spool valve
cavity and then expand to create a tight fit. That is how I see it anyhow.
Seems mine was worn out or defective. So swapped spool valves and arm after
cleaning and resealing the spool valve. Works great. Car steers much much
better. Auto centers and just drives nice. Wonder why I did not do this a
long time ago. Always thought it was something else but after checking
everything else there was nowhere else to go.
