Re: IML: Mitchell's and other parts vendors.

Yes, I have had good luck with both of them. I have made probably more then 100 purchases from Mitchell's & all turned out satisfactory. Although Brads is a bit pricey on some of his stuff, I've gotten some good stuff there as well. I got many 60 trim pieces as well as a complete tail light assembly & lens for a 69.
I have yet to do any business with John Rosen, but did purchase a center link for a 66 from Kantor. When I spoke to them on the phone, the person commented, "oh a new car". The center link arrived quickly & was the correct part. I do think it was a bit pricy at the time, probably around 1987 as they were only beginning to become hard to find at that point .

Hi;
Are you including Mitchell's and Brad's in that endorsement? Perhaps you
have had some luck with that pair but some have had good luck with Rosen
too, maybe the moon was in the right phase or something? I have heard
experiences from others about Mitchell's and would only try that place as a
last resort. Anyone who, on the spur of the moment, would try to unload his
entire business on Ebay is not someone I would rely upon regarding any
guarantees or returns. Again, both Mitchells and Brad's have been pulled
from Hemmings so that says enough for me.
Although Kanter's are sometimes called the "Thieves from New Jersey"
sometimes they are quite competitive and reliable depending on what you buy.
But their speciality is in mechanical parts not in rubber, upholstery, or
electrical, even though they dabble with each. The main problem with these
old things is with the trades people not with the parts vendors. There are
so many out there that charge top dollar for their work but aren't honest
enough to admit that they don't know enough about pre-1980 cars before
taking on a job.

I've had good luck with all 3 of these suppliers & would recommend all of
them, based on MY experiences only. I've dealt with Bernbaums many times &
highly recommend. However, I would hesitate to again buy the rubber for the
rear window on 60-62's. My rear glass leaks much worse then before & has
ruined the new fabric on my back seat. The glass shop that put the window
back in wanted me to get a new gasket, even though I couldn't see anything
wrong with the old one. I wish I'd gotten a new glass shop instead.

Hi all;
To a degree I can see both sides of the arguement but I have never heard
of anyone being stiffed by Andy Berbaum. I have however heard of people
being stiffed by Mitchells and Brad's NOS, either parts not being delivered
at all or misrepresented, to the extent that Hemmings pulled their ads.
