IML: Vinyl Top As Regular Replacement Item

<<<Aren't the ones without a vinyl top Crowns? For '69 and '70, the vinyl roof was optional on the Crown.I've only seen one '69 Crown sedan without a vinyl top, and of course, it looked like a Newport sedan Elijah>>>>>>>>>

I had a '72 Newport Custom sedan, sans vinyl top. While I never had the backlite out, it had no obvious signs of rust anywhere around the backlite frame, nor in the seams between the body panels, nor trunk leaks. This car spent all its life here in moist western Oregon, a lot of it out of doors, and still no rust. The fiber backing on vinyl is a virtual damp rag if the least bit of water gets in.

And best of all, my Newport looked just like a '69/70 Crown! Thanks for reminding me, Elijah. :-)
