Actually, I should have made it clear that I was talking about cars that
most of our members are interested in.  Power Steering actually goes way
back - into the 30s and perhaps 20s, but only in very expensive cars.
Pierce Arrow for one, had it in the 30's.

Any time you ask "who had the first" anything, you'll find there are a long
history of most of our "modern" inventions and conveniences.  The real
question is when was it available to the usual purchaser or "man on the
street"

1952 was the first year for most cars, although I think Chrysler had it a
year before that.

Some cheaper cars didn't get it until a year or two later.

I'm sure Bill Watson knows the exact first year for Chrysler and Imperial.
