Gee, its a good thing that the word "Southampton" was out of the mix by then. Can you imagine a 1975 Imperial LeBaron Crown Coupe Southampton. It probably never would have been, though, since all Southamptons were two and four door hardtops. Perhaps I should view some pictures before I suggest this, but if I am not mistaken, wouldn't that particular car be more accurately classified as a two door sedan?

No. The 4 door was a LeBaron and the 2 door was a Crown Coupe. I may be corrected because I do think the full name of the 2 door was Imperial LeBaron Crown Coupe. Regardless, the 4 door was never referred to as a Crown anything, just the 2 door.
Well, kinda sorta.  ;o)

The last year for a Crown as a model was 1970..  All 1971-1975 Imperials, even the two doors, were indeed LeBarons.

In mid year 1974, a "Crown Coupe" Silver Anniversary option package was offered: http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1974/crowncoupe/

Only 57 Imperial LeBaron Crown Coupes were produced in 1974.  1,641 were made in 1975.

So all of the '74 and '75 Imperials were LeBarons, but a few were LeBaron Crown Coupes.

Can't you just see the DMV clerk glazing over as you try to explain this?

Thanks,

Elijah
