Re: IML: speedo cable for 1960 Imperial

I had the great fortune to find one of these at a flea market in Vermont many years ago. It was on a tarp where all the items were priced at $1.00. When I bought it, I wasn't sure that it was correct, but took it because the part number seemed in the correct range for 60. Low & behold, when I checked my parts book when I got home, it was the correct one. Its still in its original envelope & I haven't had to use it yet.

Robert,

I was in your shoes over 20 years ago and there was no such thing then. I doubt if there are any now. You will probably have to make your own from a kit. It is very easy, but you will need to use your old one as a pattern. I have done this many times and it is very easy. The kit comes with the crimping tool to install the end as in the OEM part. All you need is a hammer. I have done this a number of times. If your car has Auto Pilot, there are actually two cables, a long and short. You might as well make one of each so that they will both be new.
