I'm not mechanical by any means, but do you want to risk brake failure near your home, or the middle of nowhere and chance repairs on the fly? You've not converted to dual master cylinder brakes, right, so you have no back-up system. Vacuum leaks aren't going to go away by themselves, or get any better on a 4000 mile road trip in the middle of summer.
