RE: IML: Imperial or Not?- IMPERIAL

Time for me to chime in on this one.  I bought a brand new ’81 Imperial in late 1980.  It was crimson red with white leather interior.  A more beautiful car I have never owned.

The only option available was a moon roof.  (the car came with everything else by default)  I chose not to get the moon roof as it reduced the available head-room by nearly two inches.  Being a tall person, I needed those extra two inches of head-room.

My only complaint with the car was its lack of performance.

But I wish I still had it.

While I have been here, it is been made clear that there is NO question about this whatsoever. They are and that's that. My understanding of the rules indicates that any discussion about it insinuates that they might not be. In this forum that is tantamount to at least a negative remark. Negative opinions about another's Imperial are not allowed.

Hello All,

Well, If there is any question of the 90's Imperials being

REAL IMPERIAL, I can atest that being a former owner of a 1990

Chrysler Fifth Avenue for seven years that the Imperial of that

era were VERY much Immperials.  My 5th was a real was very much a

kin to the Imperial but with out the total trappings and having

owned 2 Imperials (69 LeBaron FDHT and 75 LeBaron FDHT) the Fifth

was very appointed in its own right. I was looking for an

Imperial when I bought the 5th, but one was not to be found in

Las Vegas.  Imperial owners do holder on to their cars longer

that other car owners, so there are not as many available for

resell, but that fact that the Imperials are lower production

numbers than other cars does not make them readily available.

That can be good and bad (especially for Imperial only parts).

But overall, the 80's and 90's Imperial are very much members

of the Imperial family in their own right.  And, by the way, when

my 5th was stolen the first time, I did find some Imperials in

Las Vegas, but my 5th was found intact and kept her another 5

year more.  She was stolen a second time in Portland, Oregon

three years later and was recovered again intact.
