Thanks to everyone for the shared experience and pointers on my
question of rewiring a fully assembled car. The reason I'm
considering this - and need to deal with at least some of it - is
that I have wiring that I can see under the hood that has lost most
if not all of its insulation or has been replaced by someone who
obviously was only concerned with completing the circuit and not what
was safest, looked best, or most appropriate. Second, there are a
few things that aren't working like the courtesy lights on the front
corners of the seat, the front door interior light switches, and the
heater blower. Therefore, even if I don't do the WHOLE car, I will
have to do quite a bit just to address these issues.
One specific question: does the wiring under the hood connect
directly to the instrument panel? In other words, if I were to buy
the engine harness, will that necessitate dealing with under the
dash? I see that as the most difficult due to the stand on head
factor and the shear number of wires.
Thanks,
Jeff
