The best I have done with any of my Imperials was 17.5 on the freeway, back when a "freeway" really was one. Keep the car tuned properly and keep the tires at around 32, good radials help. If the car has a working Auto Pilot, using it can increase mileage by 10 to 15 percent on long trips. Major changes such as adding overdrive transmission units, etc. are very expensive and the pay off is over a long term if ever, not to mention the "original vs. customizing debate regarding resale value. The cheapest and most direct way to cut fuel consumption is to drive like there is an egg between your foot and the accelerator, the idea being never to push hard enough to break the egg. Driving this way also gives other drivers on the road a better opportunity to see the car!

Hey all,
Matt here again, and still somewhat considering an attempt at an Imperial as a daily driver (64-66).. I've mostly decided that i need something with better milage, but what kinds of ways are there to improve gas milage? What kinds of upgrades should I be looking at? I'm trying to add the cost of the car, and upgrades to decide whether or not it's worth-while. It's my last hope for going that direction.
