Re: IML: '90-'93 IMPS

Hi Jerry,

I have a 90 and 91. All Imperials have the rear load leveling systems and the 4 wheel air ride was an option. My 90 has the air ride and it still works perfectly. I had to replace the air shocks on my 91 so now it functions like stock. Like any car with alot of power options sometimes things go out. I'm lucky I guess as on my 91 everything still works seats/windows/locks/mirrors and so on. The 90 needed a PS mirror and the main window switch on the drivers door. Like Anthony said they get good fuel economy for their size...I love the look and always get people asking me about them when we go out... Jerry, Hello! I've owned four of them in the pass two years. I currently
have two of them. Here the issues. As you stated the tranny is very temper
mental and needs to be babied. The abs system was recalled, but still
presents with problems that wasn't recall ,but fixable. The air suspension
doesn't last and has to be changed eventually- approx $300.-. This car is
not without its flaws, but all in all I wouldn't drive anything else. Great
gas mileage too for a mid- size car.

P.s. Here is my number if you need to talk -Anthony 631 252 2444

HI FOLKS,
I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING BUYING A '90 TO '93 IMP FOR A DAILY DRIVER AND
AM WONDERING WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR IN THE WAY OF CHRONIC PROBLEMS IN THESE
CARS.
I KNOW ABOUT THE A 604 PROBLEMS, BUT I AM CLUELESS AS TO HOW MUCH ABS
PROBLEMS THERE ARE. ALSO, DO ALL OF THESE YEARS HAVE SELF-LEVELING
SUSPENSIONS AND IS THE SYSTEM GOOD OR BAD?
I WOULD APPRECIATE ALL FEEDBACK ON OR OFF LIST.
THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT,
JERRY LANDIS---'81 FS
