The colour is correct for the trunk floor to be the body colour. I know that the car manufacturers dipped the entire body structure in paint. Many used an electrolsys method to make a better bond to the metal. I have used a product to transform rust into a non-rusting material and it was great. I don't remember what the name was but it transformed into "before my eyes". It reminds me of the replicators on Stargate (the serires).
