The colour is correct for the trunk floor to be the body colour. 
I know that the car manufacturers dipped the entire body
structure in paint.  Many used an electrolsys method to make a
better bond to the metal.  I have used a product to transform
rust into a non-rusting material and it was great.  I don't
remember what the name was but it transformed into "before my
eyes".  It reminds me of the replicators on Stargate (the
serires).
   BTW, one television series which was sponsored by Chrysler was
Mission Impossible.
