If the electric choke has a + and -, then - goes to ground, and the plus can go to anything that has power when the ignition is turned on. I have run it to the + side of the coil on my non-Imperials with success.
For my Imperials I have preferred to keep the original carb set up and choke process. When it comes to replacement/rebuilding, I do what is necessary to meet that goal.

It was suggested to me by one member to use an Edelbrock 1406 as a replacement for my Carter AFB. Since this carb uses an electric choke and the Carter is manual, what would be the source of power for the electric choke? Could I just use an E-1405 with manual choke?
