I only have the headlight dimmer on my '55 and my '60 LeBaron, so I can't speak directly about the others. Over the years, I have virtually had everything apart under the dash on '60 through '65 and NEVER had to remove the dash pad to work on anything.

Removing the glove box cardboard (is it cardboard in the '62?) gives you access to the box. That's one heck of a lot easier than removing the entire dash pad, which also gives you access. The dimmer cable plugs directly into the box.
