Subject: Re: IML: 67 Imp parking brake
vacuum actuator
Thx all, but I think I may have used the wrong
name for what I need. The vacuum
actuator is mounted above the parking brake and it automatically releases the
brake when the car is put into gear. It is a round can approx. 3" in
diameter and 2/14" thick. It has an flat arm sticking out of the bottom of it
that attaches to the parking brake mechanism. Vacuum is applied to it when the
car is put into gear, and it physically releases the brake. The rubber
diaphragm appears to have come loose for about 1" of it's circumference,
that's why I was wondering if there was a way to get it
open.
I'd love to get a part # to track one down.
Thx,

Hey Chris,
Yes, you can open them up, BUT be very
careful. There are little tiny pieces in there. A lot of the time, if you
take it apart, clean it real good, it will work again. Good luck to you. I
know Dick Benjamin has done it too.
