There are other years of Chrysler and Imperial rims that will fit you car, such as 1956 Imperial, but you need to get the late '59 through '66 as they have "vent-i-ports" for proper brake cooling, which is essential. The correct wheel covers are also necessary for the exact same reason. '66 covers look like '67 up but the newer covers lack the cooling vents that work in concert with the rims to cool the brakes. Its great that you have a correct set of '66's, but in case it turns out you don't, they are hard to find. '65s fit, seem plentiful, and blend well with the car until the correct covers can be located. The correct covers for all years are normally damaged by shops prying through the cooling vents to pop off the cover for tire and wheel maintenance.
Try Bob Hoffmiester, Imperial Heaven at Impparts@xxxxxxxxxxx Check the contact information on the OIC web site. I seem to always mess up his e-mail addy. Send him a note and they should arrive quickly. He's set up to take Paypal which expedites the transaction immensely. Bob is great, has lots of parts, and does and excellent job of supporting this group. There are other vendors listed, so far I only have experience with Bob. He has been my salvation here for the last few years. Great parts availability, service, and price. I am sure he can have the rims to you quickly.
Paul W. -----Original Message----- From: belvedere426@xxxxxxxxx To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Fri, 23 Feb 2007 7:48 PM Subject: IML: 1966 Impiral wheels (rims) I recently bought a 1966 Imperial Crown 4D HT. It came with a set of chrome wheels with moon hub caps, which would be fine if I owned a 32 Roadster. I have a complete set of original hub caps and I'm looking for a set of OEM wheels. Anyone know of a good source for new (reproduction) wheels or used original wheels or am I just going to have to go junk yard'n? Also, are there other years/models or makes who's wheels might be compatible? If anyone lives in or close to NC and has a set it would make life easier and save on shipping. Thanks, Phil. _________________________________________________________________________ ___________ Need Mail bonding? Go to the Yahoo! Mail Q&A for great tips from Yahoo!
