Grounding and grounds in general are a science and phenomenon. I personally choose to cut off the positive terminal, and that is mainly due to my first sentence. Eliminating the battery ground terminal doesn't always guarantee an electrically isolated circuit. There are many paths to ground in a car's electrical system (leaky diodes in an alternator for example), and isolating the positive terminal helps limit galvanic reactions which contribute to corrosion. Galvanic effects only require a few micoramps plus the relative humidity of your car's environment - a dismaying thought to keep in mind.

Is there any science to which battery terminal you install aremovable terminal clip to? I bought and installed one today on my 1969Electra after the old battery was consumed by too many winter discharges. The package the clip came in alluded to the fact that it could go on eitherterminal. I put it on the positive side, but wondered what wisdom Imight be missing in doing so. Speculating on what's best for any caralways sends me to the IML. (required Imperial content).

Anyone?
