Charles,the ball hone works, if you are de-glazing the cylinders, and did not re-bore, then a 280 grit stone is fine.If the cylinders were re-bored, a more aggressive stone (220-240) should be used.The ideal cross hatch pattern, is 60 degrees.For best results, a specific honing oil should be used, no short-cuts or substitutions. Check with you local machine shop to get some.It's important to use plenty of oil, and don't run the hone dry. And after the big honing mess, don't forget,CLEAN, CLEAN,CLEAN the block as I prescribed previously.That should get you to the next phase: Assembly.One note, if any cylinders have score marks, or grooves you should re-bore and start over. Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
