The park position happens because there is a micro switch in the wiper 
transmission. When the wipers are anywhere in their arc except parked, the 
micro switch activates, and keeps them working until they can complete a 
cycle. When the switch is off, and the wipers have completed their cycle, 
then they will park.

Tonight I reassembled the original 1960 wiper switch after cleaning all the 
contacts and put it back in the car.  Now I can't get the wipers to park at 
all.  They stop where ever they happen to be when I turn the switch off.

I then took out the 1960 switch and installed the 1962 switch which I had 
already disassembled and cleaned....I get the same "no parking" problem.

Prior to fiddling with either of the switches, the wipers, on ocassion, 
either wouldn't turn off when I turned the switch off and/or wouldn't park 
properly.  Usually it would starting behaving again fairly quickly.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?  The service manual is 
lacking in much help.
