You wander if a 440 will bolt up to an 1962 transmission ... yes.  It will also bolt up to the same year torque convertor for the crank shaft part too.
 
That ole 1962 413 crank shaft will also bolt in an 440 block and the rods from either too.
 
The 1960 year was the re-design year with the ends of the crank shaft.
 
This is good information to keep the Imperials on the roads, or to do some retro fitting.

Will a  440 mate up to the '62 transmission?  I know it won't work with a
'59.  This is one of the reasons that I rebuilt the my engine instead of
replacing it.
