Hi Paul,Yes, you are a very lucky man to have a good shop in your neighborhood that understand these front suspensions.
Are you able to take a few measurements of your front bumper height and some other specific points to determine of my front end is really too low or just a case of my imagination?
Jim Lorenzen is also taking the measurements of his front bumper height (lowest point in the middle to the floor).
So I am looking forward to compare those figures with my own measurements of the front bumper height!
Thanks again, Robert----- Original Message ----- From: <randalpark@xxxxxxx>

Very few suspension shops even in the USA could help with this problem. If they are familiar with this type of suspension at all, it usually is the unit body version, not the older style as is built into the '57 through '66 Imperial.I am lucky and have a good shop close by, but they weren't too sure about it at first them selves. Now that they "have the hang of it" I am trying to get all of mine worked one again for hopefully the last time. I don't drive any of them enough to wear them out these days, but I want them to handle properly and look right when I do.Paul W. -----Original Message----- From: Rob van der Es <r.vdes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wed, 20 Jun 2007 11:53 pm Subject: Re: IML: front end height question of 1960 Imp Thanks for your answer so far, I have the 60 FSM but the procedure is not quite clear to me. And ofcourse I would like to know what caused the situation in the first place.I agree with you that the bars aren't broken, I definetely wouldn't be ableto drive my car to my work today then :)I will try to figure out the correct adjustment procedure, allthough I don'thave all the special tools that might be needed for the job.. And ofcourse no suspension shop in my country can help me out with this problem :) Thanks , Robert ----- Original Message ----- From: "debenson2" <debensonii@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2007 12:36 AM Subject: Re: IML: front end height question of 1960 ImpHello, I just replaced the rear springs and shocks all the way aroundonmy 57, I only needed to adjust the torsion bars in the front.... man what a difference!!! Our bars in the front are adjusted to raise lower and equalize theside toside height...There are adjusting nuts? on the ends and this can bedoneby...If yours have not moved in a while try to soak them with deepcreepor a penetrating oil for a few days... If your bars had broken you would really know it!!! My bet is just an adjustment. I will look in my fsm to see if they outline a procedure and email ittoyou.... Torsion aire is great! debenson2 road2recovery Box 43873 Brooklyn Park, Minnesota 55443 USA debensonii@xxxxxxxxxxx 1957 Plymouth V800 1956 Dodge wagon 1956 Dodge coronet 1955 Chrysler New Yorker 1999 Town & Country AWD 2001 Ram 2500 quad cab 2004 Jeep Liberty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rob van der Es" <r.vdes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2007 4:55 PM Subject: IML: front end height question of 1960 ImpHello fellow Imperialists, Apart from wrestling with some electric gremlins lately, I am alittleworried about one other thing. When I looked closely to my car today I found that the front end wastooclose to the floor. It never drawed my attention before and I guess something must have happend when the car was on jack stands for almost a week with thefrontwheels free of the ground. Ofcourse I did not place the stands or the jack right under thetorsionbars, the stands where placed under the wide frame members (left and right). I was working then on the driver side cilinderhead, trying to getrid ofsome broken exhaust manifold studs. When I succeeded this job, I lowered the car and was too happy tonoticethe fact that the front end was lower then before. When I walked around the car today, I can not get rid of the ideathatsomething has happenend.. The car's front end is definetely a coupleofinches lower then before. What is happening here? And more important, how do I correct this situation. I know there must be some adjusters but can I simply turn them toget thefront end up again? Btw, the car's front end height is equal when you compare left andright,it is just that the total front end (especially the lowest point ofthefront bumper) is way too low to the ground. Does anyone has an idea here? THanks a lot, Robert ----------------- http://www.imperialclub.com ----------------- This message was sent to you by the Imperial Mailing List.
