Re: IML: A funny Story

Dear Group;

    I have another one for you.  IAbout a year ago I took my 56 Imperial in for tires at Discount Tire.  I had to special order my tires (3 1/2" Wide Whites) from a depot in Tennesee and waited a week for them to come in.  When I placed the work order, I mentioned that the right side and left side had lug nuits that turned in opposide directions.  He placed that information on the order.  No problem huh?

    I was outside as the young kid got in the car and started it and just sat there.  He shut the car off and went into the work bay and talked to an older kid and they both when back to the car.  The new guy started the car and just sat there.  The new guy then when back inside and talked to the girl that wrote up the order and asked who had the car brought in.  She pointed me out and the guy came over.

    He said that the brake light won't go off and he could not find the lever to pull to release the brake.  I said that the lever was a handle that was pulled out on the left side of the wheel under the dash.  He said thanks and when back to the car.  They started it again and then just sat there again.

    I figured that if I wanted to get my tires that day then I would have to go over there and see what their problem was.  As I approached the car the first kid saw me coming and asked where the gearshift was.  I said "look above the brake release at the push buttons and press "R" for reverse and "D" for drive.  He thanked me and then I told him to be sure that he looked at the wheel studs and see if it was a left hand or right hand thread for the lug nuts.  The older guy said that he had heard about them, but never seen them before.

    Before the day was over I think I had seven people working on my car.  The service manager had most of the guys over giving them a on the job training on early Chrysler products.  Every time I bring "Miss Pearl" in for tire rotation, the service manager is involved and I get excellent service.

Subject: IML: A funny Story

Hi Group,
I went to the local Wal-mart today in Reading, PA, for tires for my recently aquired 64 Imperial LeBaron.  I asked for whitewalls in P235/75R-15.  The girl at the counter asked what kind of SUV I wanted them for?  I told her they were for an Imperial. She asked who makes that?  And do I want the whitewalls out?  It gets better.
After she wrote the work order, she handed it to a kid in the shop. A few minutes later she came into the customer lounge and told me there was a problem.  She said the stripes on the side of the tires were not white, they were blue.  It took everything I had to hold back the laughter.  I said "No kidding? I never saw anything like that. Could you show me?" She said "Ya, come on out and I'll show you."
We went out to the tire rack where, sure enough, they were blue!  I could hold back no longer. After about two minutes of hysterical laughter, I got back up off the floor and licked my fingers and wiped off a little blue and exposed the whitewall.  Boy, she was amazed! She never knew about the miracle blue turning into white.
Then the boy in the shop started the job.  He couldn't finish the first wheel because they didn't have any tire valves for the big hole. This place sells tires but only had the skinny valves.  I had to drive down to the NAPA store to buy the valves.
I'm glad I decided to carry the wheels in so I didn't have to explain how to remove left hand threaded lug nuts.
This just made my day!
