Hi All! I had intended to make Carlisle again this
year, and just coming back from Jensen Shenandoah 07 (took my Interceptor
Convert), where we had a good turnout of Interceptors, including a Coupe, and in
'MOPAR mode' I began cleaning up and repainting the engine bay/firewall etc on
my 63 Crown - to bring it up to the clean detailing/painting I had
previously done to the engine.
I had to replace the cooling system in my
Interceptor over the winter and so the Imperial needed some attention. Well Fri
nite we had some unexpected family, and I never got the bay fully finished &
back together till today. Not easy to mask and spray those walls, hinges,
and firewall above the tranny - to perfection. But its done & looks
1000 times better. So Sunday's planned trip to Carlisle didn't happen. I
do plan to bring the car to the Rockville MD show again in October.
However, my friend Laurence in Long Island, began
working on his 62 LeBaron Sunday, (He also drove his Jensen Interceptor Saloon
to Shenandoah) and so we were on the phone all day, both 'Imperial-ing'.
He is taking a bride & groom to/from their wedding this Friday in his 62. So
its been a good Imperial week.

We have several dealerships that work with the
CPOC, as well as some independent shops. I know several of the mechanics that
are happy to work on the older cars, and often ask me to bring the cars by.
Since I do everything I can myself, I just 'drop by' for the fun of it
sometimes. We did buy a new Dodge Caliber (Car #20) (a special order
build with hi tech, trailer tow & block heater, heated seats etc.)
An SXT Sport. The R/T was a bit too harsh for us.
None the less, the front headlight bezels are very much 'my era' Imperial
inspired (not unlike the 2006 Imperial Concept Car headlights) if anyone
noticed. Another car we plan to keep 'forever'. I am curious to find out
if the new Dodge electroluminecence power pack will work for vintage
Imperials.
My 160K mile 89 Shelby Daytona is now an official
Farm vehicle in another state, hauling lumber & concrete again; and we still
have our 140K mile 96 Caravan ES. I took Camellia to order
& pick up her Caliber, when it came in a couple weeks ago -
with the 56 Dodge Coronet. SO its both old & new here. The 56 Dodge is
my Mc Donalds breakfast car (near Lake Elkhorn), Home Depot, dinner, ice cream
out, and lawn mower transport car. The Imperial is for special dinners
with friends, nice drives to other car guys gargaes, Car shows, Carlisle, &
a yearly visit to see my now 92 yr old aunt in VA Beach. There is a
place for everything, and for my 63, that is always #1 priority/special
place in the main garage or my new workshop in VA next winter.
