IML: Gas Tank Repair

Have any of our members tried gas tank repair by themselves?  I see that there are some repair kits from companies like POR 15 that offer gas tank cleaner and rust removal and coatings.  The tank on my car has no rust that I know of and does not leak, but does need to be cleaned out thoroughly and a new sock probably put on the pick-up tube.
