Here's a funny (some would say nuts) story about my propensity to drive
green cars: around '98 I was in the investigations division in my job and
was issued a removed-from-service squad car, as was our policy in those
days. My first duty with such an issue was to get it painted as a plain
car. I took the car (a '95 Caprice) to my favorite local shop and
instructed them to paint it the same color as my '68 Barracuda, F6 Green
(basically avocado green). A few days later I pull up at the station and go
walking in to my office, while everyone in the bullpen gathered at the
windows and stared (maybe "glared") at the parking lot at my new paint job.
The next day the chief put out a directive that such cars could only be
painted a color which was available from the factory on the car in question.
But I got to keep my green.
