I tend to think of maintenance being any work on a wear item, which means
pretty much anything mechanical.
To me, restoration means work on body/trim/frame/interior/glass/paint, and
also includes any operation that requires fabrication of parts (except maybe
lines and hoses). It also has to be done on a way that makes the car more
like an original car - when I put electronic ignition in my '69, that wasn't
restoration, for example.
