the way of measuring octane in the us is different than in europe.

And then we have so called " super" gasoline with an octane rate of 98 (like Shell V-power for e.g.)Now I understand why I can give my Imperial as much pre-ignition as 12 degrees BTDC !!I am sure I will get a lot of pinging when I try to run my engine on 87 octane.Is 94 the best grade fuel in the US now ??
