RE: IML: California Historic "Black Plate" Bill Signed Into Law

Whether a particular car is a rust bucket or not really depends on quite a few things other than what license plate is on it.  I have one of those "original california  plate cars" complete with the Monterey license plate frame.

I think it still has original points and condenser in it and the original shocks. Anyone who wants to contact me off list and purchase said items, please do so.  I also have a set of rotted bias plys that I'll throw in with the deal.

 

I kinda thought the point of the hobby was to enjoy the cars, I grew up turning wrenches on old cars when it was a blue-collar hobby where you either maintained or fixed up what you had and traded parts at swap meets once a year. I don't buy cars to flip them like real estate and make money and I also don't hoard parts thinking I might get rich  selling them somday.  I'd much rather help out someone who wants to get in on the hobby

and sell a complete car rather than part one down that is rebuildable.   I don't want a museum piece, I want something I can drive and enjoy.  If getting a set of period-correct

plates for your 58' Imperial is bad because it originally came from Iowa and you don't want new plates, so what.  It is about the enjoyment...isn't it?
