Many will comment here--I will just mention the magnificent 1957 Imperial
Crown Southampton 4dr Hardtop of my Dad's--of three price levels, his was
the middle one, with an entry level below and the LeBaron the top offering
with upscale interior. The HEMI 392 CID engine powered all three lines.
Chassis and bodies were essentially the same for the three lines.
Ghia-built Crown Imperials such as owned by then NY Governor Nelson
Rockefeller were crafted in Italy using 2dr hardtops shipped over for the
purpose and were special with extended length (the Chrysler Corporation
stopped building the longer machines with the 1956 model). The 1957
Imperial Crown was an extremely fast car with great handling on tap.
