Re: IML: Found Imperials

Hi all:

Since my last post regarding the two found Imperials, I have received a number of ‘interested’ responses.  I am going to address the entire list at this time.  First of all, I am not promoting these cars so that I can turn a big profit.  I am really a ‘save the whales’ type person.  I can’t have these cars for myself; I just want to save them!  The ’60 Crown is so far out in the northeast Montana boondocks that it still has all of it’s original glass, chrome, trim etc. In fact it is about as far away as you can get without entering Canada or North Dakota! As I have mentioned, it has been there for 30 year, but reportedly has no serious exterior rust or obvious mouse damage to the interior. The rainfall average in that area is 15 inches, so sun will have been the most serious problem.  I had someone else (a car restorer) look at this car and this is what he told me. The owner says there is a dent on the right…front quarter panel I think but am not 100% positive.  Not a major dent I believe. The owner promised to send photos…he is not at all good on follow-through…yet he says he ‘wants’ to sell the car.  I have not seen the car myself (it is 400 plus miles from us)and I think the only way to close a deal with this fellow is face to face. I would just like a very modest finder’s fee and travel expenses to do that. We have a pickup and trailer which has previously hauled my ’62 Imp. It has a winch and a sliding tip bed for loading. We can deliver west of the Mississippi for a reasonable fee.  I would need to check with hubby.  Every project I get into seems to end up costing us money and would like to try to avoid that pit fall once again.

The ‘61’ Imperial is in southwest Wyoming, has been professionally painted silver and it does run. This car is available because of a divorce where the wife got the car but does not wish to keep it.  This information came to me from the body man who restored my ’62.

When I called the wife, she had not yet decided on a price and could not remember if the car was a Custom or Crown, nor did she remember for sure what the color of the interior was…maroon maybe. She lives in Salt Lake, thus could not run out and look at the car.  She hasn’t gotten back to me yet and I suspect she may be a bit leery that I am trying to get it back from her ex.  Here again a modest finder fee would be appreciated.

If anyone would like to pursue either or both cars please call or use my personal e-mail listed below.
