IML: Another Sure grip ratio question

Hi all and thx for all your responses,

I am told that I won't find a NEW ring and pinion set in a stock 2.94 ratio. 
I could try used. I was also told that a 323 ratio would be fine too.  Would 
this be true?  I'd rather go with the factory ratio but if it makes little 
difference why not go 323?  Will it drop right into my 8-3/4"   742 case? 
Would a 323 lessen the value of my stock car?
