Why convert to propane in the U.S.?



Obviously it isn't because of a huge cost savings. 
Just as we bought these old clunkers not for the cheap
replacement parts.  Perhaps both give a sense of
purpose and satisfaction.  One to save a style and
class of automobile for for all to enjoy and the other
to help in some way provide for a cleaner world.
The "cost" factor is irrelevant (rational or not)in
either case.
