Mark Cross info for Imperials

The Mark Cross Company went bankrupt in the mid 1990s and its assets were
acquired by Coach Leather. Check eBay, because occassionally the Mark Cross
Presentation Package that was given with the 1981-83 Imperials comes up for
bid, usually becoming pretty pricey. The package contained, if I recall
correctly, an umbrella, special leather covers for the manuals, a key ring, and
some other doo-dads.

Car(s) owned: 1981 Imperial Coupe, Manila Cream with Mahogony Mark Cross
leather & factory aluminum wheels. Original am/fm with 8 track tape player. Car
shows 108,000 miles, reverse is elusive when cold, drivers seat needs new
leather, and fixed the drooping headliner, some of the inside cloth mouldings
need to have new material, but the paint, glass, and most mechanics are good.
Power steering pump also leaks, and the motor for the headlight doors does not
operate. Bought the car for $800 in November 2001. Would like some help finding
some parts for the car as well as advice on bringing it back to top condition.
Thanks...

Self-Introduction: I am 45 years old and a long time Chrysler owner and
supporter. I have
owned more mopars than I can count, wish I still had some of them. I
always seem to drag home another car to add to my collection. I try to
remember to let my better half know before hand, it's better not to
have too many secrets show up in the front yard. This is my second
Imperial, the first was a 1967 Crown 4 door hardtop that I had in the
mid 80's. It was a great car 440, leather, but no vinyl top, bought
from the original owner again for $800, back then. It was a dark gold
color. Thanks for the web site, I look forward to meeting you all and
hope to get some help getting this new addition into proper shape. The
first couple of things I would like to tackle are the headlamp doors
and the interior issues. I have tried to find out if Mark Cross Co.
is still in business via the Internet, but have not found anything so
far, and if they are not, then who would be a suitable second choice.
Also hope to find the correct mahogony brown cloth to fix the front
and rear mouldings around the windows. The car seems to have spent a
lot of time in the sun. I fixed the headliner with some spray glue I
got from a local upholstry shop, and it made that presentable again,
as well as some of the other interior mouldings that the cloth was
loose or pulled away from. In my youth, I worked for the local
Chrysler dealer as a detailer, and later in the parts department. This
was in the early to mid 70's and this is where the bug was firmly
planted. Thanks in advance for any and all help! Michael
