A recent comment:

year, given the styling directions of existing Galaxies and Lincolns."
A much earlier article in Collectible Automobile on the styling of the 1961
Lincoln Continental, shows a number of preliminary styling exercises for the
1961 Lincoln.
Some of these designs strongly resemble, the 64, 67, and even 69 Imperials.
