440 dies at the stop light, 440 with hissing noises

my 440 dies when I stop, why is this?  my 440 also makes a hissing noise 
thats NOT continuous.  it 'hisses' about 2 times every second.  this this 
'hising' noise only hisses when at lower rpm's,  if i speed up the 440 the 
hissing stopes.  why is this?  im suspecting a exaust leak...am i right?
