digital dashes

Driving an '81-'83 Imp can be a real adventure, as the
driver isn't bothered by any of those annoying gauges for
the mechanical thingamajigs.

However, the ashtray is down at the dash's bottom center,
and it doesn't seem like a good idea to be looking towards
the floor to read gauges. With cigarettes you can just
flick the ash in the general direction without looking.

Would it be possible to remove the huge warning lights and
install a gauge panel behind the plastic cover shield? At
least they would then be in the general vicinity of the
driver. Possibly some small square gauges.

| In one of the issues of the now-defunt Hi Performance
Mopar they added to an
| 83 Imperial digital oil pressure, voltmeter and water
temperature gauges
| using individual gauges from Nordsking (I think). They
constructed a pod
| that replaced the ash tray. I emailed the company but
never received a
| reply. I've seen the round digital gauges from that
company advertised in
| Summitt. If one could get the kits as shown in the
magazine, it seems it
| would be easy to add to at least the 81-83 Imps.
