The main reason an auto manufacturer discontinues building something...like
an engine, is the same reason they go to such lengths for commonality among
brands - for example, same switch, bolt, disc pad, for several cars - is
because ITS CHEAPER FOR THEM! Remember why they are in the
business.....$$$$
