Rust treatment:  I researched this and used 2 products to be doubly sure.  Car has not been painted, so can not attest to results long term, but I am optimistic and like what I see so far.

I ground the rust/paint with a 10,000 RPM grinder-mounted wire rope wheel, sandblasted it with a mediocre blaster (could have had more pressure and better results but...) and then used SEM Rust Seal, which wipes on with a rubber glove and rag or sponge.  Can be squirted into crevices like bottoms of door interiors.  Rust Seal has a brother called Rust Mort, but that product does not seal and wants slightly different treatment.  Beware, and read up first at the website.  I do not trust all advice from counter people in this area, as they don't know everything despite tone and word choice.  I got this product from the place that supplies body shops with paint.  Get one bottle to treat a roof and you'll have some left.  I used 4 bottles on all major panels and insode fenders, etc.  They are on the web if you need to locate a dealer.

I scuffed the SEM Rust Seal surface with 400 grit paper and then applied Eastwood's "Rust Encapsulator" which is the reddish stuff that looks like orange primer in the photos.  See page 6 of my Epic for info.  I'll hopefully be adding a major portion to the story in the coming weeks.

The car that I started with was probably worse than yours, with the most intense, non-cancerous surface rust that you can imagine, after having been out for 25 years in a yard.

Hope that helps....
