clean the metal as best you can;use a grinder,wire wheel,then etch prime,weld patch,grind smooth,etch prime,fill if nessary(metal to metal or equal product:can find and have sent to your home or bisness by Eastwood company phone number:1-800-345-1178)sand,etch prime poli-ester prime,sand seal(2 sealer coats of non-sanding epoxi-primer,paint-clear.

I have seen reference to "killing rust" several times. If sanding clear to
bare, clean metal is not reasonable what can be best  used to kill the
rust?
