57 Crown Imperial on ebay

The date on the plate is 8/15/83: the 57-9 Ghias all have 1957 Data Plates, and VIN Plates appropriate to year of their configuration (i.e. C57 ****, LY1 ****, MY1 ****). 

 

I suspect that the Data Plate and VIN Plate were removed for painting and discarded. That would at least be consistent with the quality of the paint job.

 

Either that or there was a title problem that required a new identity.

 

By the way, it is a 57.

i remember right the blue and white plate is for specially constructed vehicles also car that have been junked and then redone and put back on the road it could be because of coming from Italy and being a special built car without the normal vin tag
