Crispy Critter Switches on old cars



I have used a very light sandpaper (1500 grit or so) to clean the
contact points off.  Then use an electric component cleaner and
lubricant on the assembly (Radio Shack sells it in a spray can with an
attached cleaner brush).  If you use a grit which is too large (e.g., an
emery board) you can leave grooves in the tiny contact points.

The best way to do this is to completely disassemble
the switch and lightly sand or file the contacts.
