Gas mileage..or lack of

That's about as good as you'll probably get. My mother had a '74 Monaco
Brougham in the mid-late '70s with a 440 that, with all the California
emissions cr*p, got all of 7 mpg...on the highway! Countless trips to the
mechanic and the Dodge dealer never got it to top 10, ever. I get about 14 on
the highway in the '59 Imperial (413 cid); 15 mpg highway in '72 Riviera (455
cid); and 16 highway in '65 Bonneville (389 cid). At least all of them have
more panache than a new Ford Excretion!

Subject: IML: Gas mileage..or lack of

First off let me say "Thanks" to all for the welcome to the group We have
enjoyed the infromation so far..second of all I realize I will not get great
fuel mileage with a 5000 lbs + car that has a 440ci engine..but after driving
it for a few weeks and doing all the usual maintance..oil, transmission filter
and oil change and so on, We notice (and after checking it) we get about 10-12
miles agallon on gas..is this usual or can we do something to increase it?
The car is a dream to drive and runs out great..just need to find out about
fuel mileage..Thanks Bill & Elaine
