Having owned a series of Chrysler and Imperials built from 65 through 78, (with and without lean burn) (all big block 400 or 440's) you are luck to average 11-13 MPG in overall driving - especially with A/C on. I did achieve 15 MPG in a 66 Chrysler New Yorker with no A/C on a 400 mile trip once...if I kept it to 55-65 MPH. Have a 66 383 T&C Wagon with a Carter 2 barrel that will get 14-15 MPG in overall driving and up to 16-17 MPG on the highway.....but it is NO 440 when you punch it to pass that 70 foot truck on an interstate grade!!!!! -----Original Message----- From: mailing-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mailing-list-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joe Bachan Sent: Thursday, April 08, 2004 3:40 PM To: mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: IML: Gas mileage..or lack of My '76 nyb with 440 was getting about 10-12 when I first got it. It had sat a long time in a ladies garage. after about 4 tanks of gas and a 200 mile round trip to clear out carbon and old fuel varnish I am tickled to report I'm getting just under 14mpg! I dont ever expect to get any better.
